About 4 weeks ago, I engaged in a very stupid and irresponsable encounter. I am a male and I had anal sex eith another male (unprotected). I am aware of the error I made but I am hoping that I may scoot safely. I tested at 2 weeks with a IV generation elisa and it was negative. The S/Co value on the [COLOR=#006CC8 !important]test result read 0.29. I tested again yesterday (4 weeks after exposure)at a different lab and the test as also IV generation elisa. The result was negative also but the S/Co value increased to 0.53. The increase of this value freaked me out. From what I understand, this value is the sample reactivity value divided by a standard cutoff value. If this value reaches 1, then the test is reactive.
My question is, could the increase of this value between the first and second test mean that I am seroconverting and the number of antibodies in my blood is increasing but not yet detectable to a high level? Why would the value differ in the two tests if I am negative? I mean if this test searches for antibodies and antigen, the value should be the same if it didnt find either right?

4 tuần trước tôi đã lỡ làm 1 việc điên dại. Tôi là nam và đã có quan hệ tình dục qua đường hậu môn không an tòan. Tôi nhận ra lỗi lầm của mình và mong dc an tòan. Và thời điểm 2 tuần sau nguy cơ tôi đã xét nghiệm ELISA thế hệ 4 và kết quả âm tính. Giá trị S/CO là 0.29. Tôi xét nghiệm lại 1 lần nữa vào lúc 4 tuần sau nguy cơ tại một cơ sở khác cũng bằng phương pháp ELISA thế hệ 4. Kết quả vẫn âm tính nhưng S/CO đã tăng lên đến 0.53. Chỉ số tăng mạnh khiến tôi rối bời. Theo như những gì tôi biết, điều này dường như là một dự báo dương tính cho tương lai. Đến khi nào nó tăng đạt ngưỡng 1 thì sẽ trở thành dương tính.
Tôi muốn hỏi bs là. Việc tăng chỉ số S/CO giữa hai lần xn có phải là do kháng thể trong máu tôi tăng lên nhưng chưa đủ để đạt ngưỡng không? Tại sao lại có sự thay đổi chỉ số giữa hai lần xn mặc dù tôi âm tính? Theo tôi biết thì hình như lọai xn này tìm cả kháng thể và kháng nguyên.

Any OD ratio (which is what I assume S/Co means) below the positive cut-off is totally and absolutely negative. Variations below 1.0 are meaningless, resulting only from variations in the biochemistry of the test, different batches of reagents in various lots of the test kits, and so on. (The manufacturer does not intend for patients to be told the numerical results. Most people tested don't need to know and are not given the numerical results, just told "negative" or "positive".) So you are now just suffering unnecessary anxiety because of being overtested! Have one more test in a couple more weeks--which really is the only test you should have had anyway. You can be over 99% sure it will also be negative.

Sự khác bịêt dưới ngưỡng 1.0 thì hòan tòan vô nghĩa, nguyên nhân chỉ là do dự thay đổi các thành phần trong sinh hóa máu, Sự khác biệt của các lọai thuốc thử (different batches of reagents in various lots of the test kits, and so on- cái này dịch ko chắc)
(Các nhà sản xuất thuốc thử thường không muốn cho bệnh nhân biết về các giá trị tóan học của xét nghiệm. Hầu hết những người đi xn không cần phải biết và cũng không cần phải dc cung cấp các giá trị tóan học trong kết quả xn ( chắc là giá trị S/CO), chỉ cần biết là "âm tính" hay "tạch" thôi). Do đó bạn đang quan tâm về 1 vần đề không cần thiết do bạn đã xn quá nhiều trong 1 khỏang thời gian ngắn. Hãy xn lại sau 1 vài tuần nữa. Bạn có khả năng âm tính trên 99%.
Cũng người này gần 2 năm sau đó xét nghiệm vẫn âm tính mọi người nhé

I had an HIV test at a lab last week and the result they sent me was negative. The test was [COLOR=#006CC8 !important]fourth generation. My question is, they told me that the result will be ready in two hours but it took about 9 hours for the result to be ready. I am afraid that they tested the sample first and it came back positive and then they retested it and got a negative and they sent me the negative one. Could this be the case? would they have told me if the sample initially tested positive??

Tôi đã xét nghiệm tuần trước và họ gởi cho tôi kết quả là âm tính, họ sử dụng thế hệ 4.
Tôi lại lo lắng là theo tôi biết xn này chỉ mất khỏang 2 giờ mà sao 9 giờ sau tôi mới có kết quả. Có khi nào kết quả dương tính xong họ mang xn lại lần nữa thì ra âm tính xong rồi họ báo với tôi là âm tính không mọi người? ---> Chứng tỏ tây nó cũng sợ HIV còn hơn cả anh em diễn đàn hiv nhà mình. gần 2 năm âm tính vẫn sợ! VCL thằng tây này
